Benefits of RFID vs Barcodes or BLE
While barcodes have been around for some time and are excellent for retail use and FMCG, they require “line of sight” and therefore cannot perform bulk batch location stock reconciliation or “find” operations.
Barcode scanners are a lo-fie tech that don't typically incorporate custom workflows or automation. Good as a low cost add-on to label items.
RFID is a proven technology that allows fast scanning without line of sight for up to 10 meters. Our solution takes RFID a step further through our app: EarthTrack Go
EarthTrack Go is deployed on a next-gen industrial tablet with built in RFID scanner. We can create custom workflows, process automation and features not normally available on handheld scanners.
BLE technology is relatively new technology and is great for scenarios where no human workers are required. This does assume a high dependence on system design which can be a concern for critical functions.
BLE tags are also 100x more expensive than passive RFID tags, making it a cost prohibitive solution for inventory at scale.
